George Katsaros - CV

Yorgos Katsaros was born in Thessaloniki, in 1974. He lives in Mytilini, Lesvos, where he's been constructing interior and exterior installations with metal, wood and glass at his workshop 'Chirotechnio' for the past 9 years.

Currently, he's been experimenting in different technics and technologies, creating molten objects of his own design. His latest work combines fused glass and metal. Having studied mechanics he has always seen masses of metal in a different perspective from what their use dictates us to. Thus, he developed a new passion for trash art, that holds to this day. The notion that nothing is useless has become his goal in life expressed by recycling and reusing what others regard as garbage.

He has taken part in many group exhibitions, such as the Trash Art Marathon "Creation and Recycling" (Gazi Athens Municipality 1998-1999-2000). He have exhibited samples of his work at the Photographic Company (Gallery Mytilene) and also at Babel's magazine own exhibition place. He has cooperated with the National Theater organisation as well as the University of Aegean and the "Galera" magazine, with artistic and cultural events. He has received the first prize of "Mythological", at the International Competition of "Micropolis".
